However, there are many dishes in Indian cuisine that are full of fats and are very rich. If you are eating out in restaurant or enjoying Indian wedding, then you have to opt for certain dishes that are not so rich.If you are taking curry vegetarian or non-vegetarian you should try to take steamed rice or plain chapattis with it. Try avoiding Biryani or pulao. Even the chapattis should be taken plain and not the butter chapatti or even pooris. In the snacks variety you should avoid fried snacks like Samosa or pakoras. Try to have lentil wafers or papads, or any other tandoori item that is not fried or filled with oil. These snacks are filling as well as healthy. The curries cooked in cream based sauce should be avoided to have healthy food. Dishes like Paneer makhani, butter chicken should be avoided as they are very rich. Instead, you can opt for other vegetables like the soohki sabji or dry vegetables along with dal or lentil. You can also have the oven roasted dishes like the chicken tikka or the sheikh Kebab or any other dish of this type. The Indian desserts are full of sugar and very rich; however you can have rasogulla which is a sweet dish. All the other dishes are full of sugar and very rich. In India it is best to have dishes in small portions. If you take too large a portion, then it will be very heavy for you.
